Pampering Myself

Posted by Erica

Today is Sunday, March 15, 2020. Covid-19 is in full swing and people are being asked to stay home and avoid large crowds. Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and hand soap are disappearing from shelves. This past Friday, my department at work had a meeting and decided that since our work can essentially be done from home, we are to work from home until further notice. This weekend I only ventured out of the house for a few errands. Saturday, I attended my golf lesson and ran to the grocery store for a few things (corn beef, cabbage, toilet paper for my mom). Today after realizing I was low on my hair gummies, I went to Ulta beauty to grab more, but to minimize interaction, I decided to order online and pick up in store. I’m glad I did because I had a $20 off coupon. Once in Ulta, I decided that since I am working from home for the foreseeable future, I should finally take the time to pamper myself. I think if you feel and look your best, you are your best self.

My entire body was my focus, hair, face, skin, and feet. Nothing was off limits from receiving a spa treatment. I have been ignoring myself for far too long. Always putting it on the back burner. Well no more. The majority of the items are one time use, just in case I don’t like them. If i don’t like them, i don’t have to use them again or feel bad about wasting money.

For my face, I decided to try Formula 10.0.3 sampler kit . It has 6 different samples to try. Included in the kit are Sea Side Glow, Get Your Glow On, Draw It All Out, Keep Your Cool, Pores Be Pure, and Deep Down Detox. I decided to try Get Your Glow on. It is designed to revitalize tired skin by removing dead skin cells, unclogging pores, and banishing breakouts. It is made with Papaya and Citrus. The papaya helps skin resurface and the citrus boosts brightness. It is a sticky peel mask, so try to avoid your eyebrows and eyelashes because they may come out when you go to pull off the peel. I put this mask on while i was deep conditioning my hair. It was a little hard to get off but once it came off, my face not only had a glow about it but was also smooth and oil free.

For my skin, I decided to try Tree Hut’s Shea Sugar Scrub. I purchased the Passion Fruit and Guava scent. There is just something about a sugar scrub that makes me feel all clean once I just out of the shower. This stuff is amazing. I loved using it. I had to tell myself to stop using so much. Each scent is made with certified shea butter and natural extracts. They do not include parabens. Sucrose is the first ingredient. I used this on my entire body, excluding my face, and once I got out of the shower, my skin felt so clean and soft. I recommend this if you ever want to try something different. Since they were 20% off, I also picked up the Tropical Mango scent, and the Sugar Lips Lip Butter, which is made with Shea butter and Rosehip oil. It smells divine and feels nourishing.

Now my feet are a different story. I never treat them right. I usually just wash them and go my merry way, but today I decided to try something different. After I washed them with the sugar scrub, I put on a Foot mask. I picked the Earth Therapeutics Soft & Smooth Gentle Peeling Foot Mask. This peaked my interest because it had a sock-type delivery and it was also on sale. It is a 2 pack. During my 30 minute deep conditioning routine, I put on the socks and since they were loose, I put on a pair of cotton socks over them. I set the timer for 90 minutes and relaxed. As I write this, seventy-five minutes has passed and my feet feel like they are leaving the salon after getting a pedicure. The package does say to allow for a few days to pass for the rough outer layers of skin to start peeling off and they should all be gone after two weeks. An update will have to come later. However, I do see myself using these again. I also picked up the Triple Butter Foot Balm as a second option.

For my hair, I decided to use just the Shea Moisture’s Coconut and Hibiscus line. This line is designed for Thick, curly hair. After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I put on the Hair masque, covered my hair with a clear shower cap, and put on my hot head for thirty minutes. After rinsing my hair with cool water, I put on the curling milk as a leave-in conditioner. The curling smoothie and I have a great relationship. I cannot seem to find another product that works as well as this one does. I section my hair and put the smoothie on it. I then run my fingers through the section and twirl them around my finger to help retain the curl pattern. Once it is all done, I spray the curling mousse into my hand and layer it onto my hair using the praying hands method. I then scrunch the product through my hair to make sure its spread evenly throughout. I just learned this method and it works.

If you don’t have thick, curly hair, Shea Moisture has 15-20 other lines for you to choose from. They even have a chart to help you. You just need to know your curl pattern.

Seeing how easy this is to do, I am going to start pampering myself more often. The feet may be twice a month, the face 3 times a week, and the skin everyday. Spring/Summer is coming up and I want my body and skin to be prepared because I am going to be outside a lot of that time.
